New York Writes Itself

The Village Voice is New York's voice. We helped amplify it.

In 2010 Leo Burnett opened its first full-fledged office in NYC. Until then, it was known primarily as a Chicago agency, but we wanted to show our commitment to our new city. We partnered with the The Village Voice to create an evolving series called New York Writes Itself featuring the amazing characters who call NYC home. The project included films, a letterpress show, and eventually an Off-Broadway play.

This was my first big project as a professional. I was the community manager throughout the campaign–running the social media accounts, collecting quotes and responding to submissions–and the copywriter for the letterpress show: New York Types, which brought a record attendance to The Art Directors Club. I got to work on everything for this part, from promotion through the run of show, including content capture and the creation of this next video.

The following year, New York Writes Itself produced a sold out Off-Broadway play called 8 Million Protagonists.
